Robot Creative Supports Luminaria Contemporary Arts Festival with Development of Interactive Map

SAN ANTONIO, TX- Each year, more than 20,000 people make their way through the illuminated art installations and performances of the Luminaria Contemporary Arts Festival at Hemisfair. Robot Creative saw a need for a mobile-friendly, interactive map to help visitors navigate the night-time event with information on artist locations and schedules as well as locations of food and drink booths and public bathrooms. ROBOT created as an in-kind sponsorship to help support this annual event.

“We get so many compliments on our interactive way-finding map. It’s so easy to use and helps everyone stay informed about every part of the event they want to visit. Robot Creative made this mobile map a truly integral part of our festival,” explains Luminaria Executive Director Kathy Armstrong.

Since 2008, Luminaria has featured a number of artists, musicians and filmmakers with their installations and performances. Inspired by night-time festivals in Europe, Luminaria’s founder, former mayor Phil Hardberger, set out to spotlight San Antonio’s local artists in the setting of our historic downtown. Each year the festival grows in attendance and participants, who collaborate and innovate throughout the year. Not only drawing in local artists, the independent non-profit organization invites artists from across the globe.

“We love supporting the Luminaria Contemporary Arts Festival,” said Robot Creative Founder, Lara August. “The interactive festival map provided a way to showcase our talents and support an incredible local arts organization at the same time.”

The love of art and community that’s at Luminaria’s core is a passion shared with Robot Creative, a boutique creative firm located in Southtown, San Antonio. ROBOT has helped with branding and advertising for Luminaria since 2015. The original way-finding materials were limited to printed signs and banners. Since the event takes place at night, ROBOT recognized the opportunity to innovate, and developed an online web application to help navigate the festival, including schedules and short descriptions for each artist.
