Robot Creative is proud to announce that Founder and CEO, Lara August, has been appointed to the Board of Directors of the Hemisfair Park Area Redevelopment Corporation (HPARC), the organization leading the transformation of downtown San Antonio’s historic Hemisfair into a world-class urban park district. The mayoral appointment carries a four-year term, during which Lara will serve on the board’s Finance and External Relations committees.
Together with its philanthropic partner, the Hemisfair Conservancy, HPARC is redeveloping the site of the 1968 World’s Fair into a series of three parks in the heart of the city.
For San Antonians and visitors alike, Hemisfair has become one of downtown’s most beloved gathering places, an urban oasis of green space, public art, locally owned restaurants and year-round programming, all within a vibrant, walkable neighborhood. Its parks include Yanaguana Garden, with interactive play areas and splash pads that make it a favorite for families; the expansive Civic Park; and the future Tower Park, set at the base of the iconic Tower of the Americas. The district is also home to some of San Antonio’s most cherished community celebrations, including Luminaria, DiwaliSA and Día de los Muertos and has helped draw renewed energy and private investment to the surrounding downtown core.
Lara brings more than two and a half decades of marketing, branding and business leadership to her role on the board of directors of the Hemisfair, along with deep roots in San Antonio’s civic and entrepreneurial communities. As the founder of Robot Creative, an active angel investor and a longtime supporter of local arts and nonprofit organizations, she offers a blend of financial discipline, business acumen and marketing expertise well-suited to the committees she will serve. A lifelong lover of public parks, she makes a point of exploring a local park wherever and whenever she travels. Lara says one of the best parts of board service is the shared vision and enthusiasm among its members.
“Hemisfair is one of the best things to happen to downtown San Antonio, and I’m honored to be on the board of directors and to help shape what comes next,” said August. “I’ve loved this district for years, the festivals, the green space, the way it brings people together; getting to contribute to its future is a real privilege.”
